BROOKINGS, S.D.–South Dakota was unable to overcome a nine-point halftime deficit and fell to South Dakota State 70-58 inside Frost Arena on Saturday afternoon.
The Jackrabbits (18-5, 9-2) take sole possession of first place in the Summit League while the Coyotes (19-5, 8-3) fall to second place in league standings.
Four Jackrabbits reached double figures led by 2016 Summit League Defensive Player of the Year Clarissa Ober with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Ober missed the first contest against the Coyotes this season to injury. Ellie Thompson and Kerri Young tallied 14 points apiece while Madison Guebert added 12.

Abigail Fogg tallied 10 apiece. Junior center
Kate Liveringhouse added nine off the bench.
The Jackrabbits held the Summit's leading scorer, sophomore guard
Allison Arens, to six points. Arens reached 500 career points with her first made free throw on the opening possession.
South Dakota State used a series of small runs in the first half to take a nine-point lead into the break. The Coyotes climbed out of a similar 11-point deficit earlier this year against the Jacks, but were unable to repeat the effort on Saturday. Young had 12 points in the first half to lead the Jacks.
The Coyotes made 20-of-47 (42.6 percent) from the field and 16-of-20 (80 percent) from the free-throw line. Fogg made the Coyotes' only two 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions to close the Jackrabbit lead to seven with seven minutes remaining. She would foul out on an over-the-back call a minute later.
The Jackrabbits shot 39.6 percent (21-of-53) from the field and 71.9 percent (23-of-32) from the stripe.
South Dakota committed 17 turnovers which led to 20 points-off turnovers for the Jackrabbits. The Jacks also edged the Coyotes on the glass 37-29. SDSU grabbed 14 offensive boards for 10 second-chance points.
The Coyotes wrap up their three-game road stretch at Fort Wayne on Thursday.
