FORT COLLINS, Colo.—South Dakota softball beat Texas Tech 5-2 and lost to Colorado State 6-0 on day one of a three-team, round-robin tournament hosted by Colorado State at Ram Field. The teams will square off against one another again Sunday.

Jessica Rogers fell a home run shy of the cycle against Texas Tech (17-32) in the opener. Her two-run triple in the fourth inning doubled the Coyotes' lead to 4-0.

Rachel Cue (11-8) pitched her 11
th complete game of the season and won her seventh straight decision. She opened with four shutout innings before allowing a run in both the fifth and sixth innings. She allowed seven hits and struck out two.
Colorado State starter Larisa Petakoff (8-7) tossed a six-hit shutout against South Dakota later in the day. She struck out three and walked one. It was her fourth shutout of the season.
A pair of Coyote errors helped the Rams post crooked numbers on the scoreboard in the middle innings. Colorado State scored three runs in the third and two more in the fourth, though just one was earned. Ten of the Rams' 11 hits were singles. Lauren Buchanan provided a double as part of a 2-for-3 effort.

Emily Winckler was 2-for-2 with a pair of walks against Texas Tech, and was 2-for-3 against the Rams. Left fielder
Christy Warnock doubled twice off Petakoff and was 3-for-6 on the day.
South Dakota concludes regular season play Saturday with a 10 a.m. (CT) game against Texas Tech followed by a rematch with Colorado State at 12:30 p.m. (CT).
South Dakota to face Omaha at Summit League Tournament
South Dakota will be the No. 4 seed at next week's Summit League Tournament in Fargo, N.D., and will face fifth-seeded Omaha in an elimination game at 3 p.m. Wednesday from the Ellig Sports Complex.
