Jana Lazarevic claimed the first Summit League Women's Tennis Player of the Week award of the season as announced by the league office Tuesday.
A native of Belgrade, Serbia, this is the first weekly honor for Lazarevic. In her first two duals as a Coyote, Lazarevic helped lead USD to victories over Seattle (4-3) and Portland State (5-2). In the No. 1 singles spot, Lazarevic defeated Seattle's Michelle Lui 7-6, 6-2 and Portland's Brianna Thompson 6-3, 6-4. In doubles, Lazarevic and
Nanette Nylund overcame Seattle's Kyra Jung and Lily-Ana Kreutzer 6-1 in the No. 2 spot.
The Coyotes continue the spring season in Des Moines, Iowa, to compete against Big 12 school Iowa State Saturday, at 3 p.m. and Drake Sunday at 9 a.m.
