OMAHA, Neb. – The South Dakota soccer team had a 1-0 setback Sunday night as the Coyotes fell at Omaha after play was delayed by two hours due to snow piling up at Caniglia Field. The result moves Omaha to 5-9-2 overall and 2-2-1 in Summit League action as USD falls to 7-6-2, 2-3.

Originally slated for a 5 p.m. kickoff, play got underway at 7 p.m. with the pitch cleared of snow as both squads battled to a scoreless first half. Â

The Mavericks struck in the 64
th minute when Emily Romero cleaned up a loose ball near the top of the penalty box and finished in the bottom right corner of the goal.

South Dakota had its chances as it tallied 10 total shots, landing five on goal. Sophomores
Abby Ostrem and
Alexis Mitchell each placed two shots on frame but saw Erin Bunker make plays for Omaha keeping the clean sheet. Junior
Taryn LaBree tallied the Coyotes' fifth shot on goal.
