Coyotes fall in overtime at Creighton

WS: CU 2 USD 1 OT

OMAHA, Neb. – The South Dakota women's soccer team had its four-match unbeaten streak snapped in a 2-1 overtime loss at Creighton Friday night in Omaha, Nebraska.

Creighton (3-3) tallied the first goal of the match in the fifth minute as Aline Reinkober sent a left-footed shot into the upper-left corner of the net.

South Dakota (2-2-2) countered in the 15th minute on junior Amanda Carpio's third goal of the season. Junior Taryn LaBree won the ball in the Coyotes' offensive-third of the field and found Carpio on outer left side of the field. Carpio dribbled to the top of the penalty box and unleashed a shot to the right corner of the goal, sliding underneath the diving Bluejay goalkeeper.

The 1-1 score would hold for the next 80 minutes until Creighton tallied the game-winning goal in the 96th minute. Keelie Fothergill received a throw-in on the side of the penalty area, used two dribbles to create space before launching a shot that stretched to the other side of the goal.

Freshman Tiannah Moore led the Coyotes with two shots on goal while Teresa Fontenot, Taryn LaBree and Amanda Carpio each attempted one shot on frame. Five of South Dakota's seven shot attempts landed on goal.

Reinkober led Creighton with four total shot attempts, placing two on frame.

Senior goalkeeper Parker Rytz totaled nine saves in the contest, moving to fifth all-time in USD history with 145. Katie Sullivan countered with four saves for Creighton.

South Dakota returns to its home pitch Sunday hosting Green Bay. Kickoff from First Bank & Trust Soccer Complex is slated for 1 p.m.
