#UniteforUSD 2019 starts Tuesday

VERMILLION, S.D.—Starting at 9:57 a.m. Tuesday and ending at 5 p.m. Wednesday, a total of 1,862 minutes will be dedicated to supporting USD priorities. The #UniteforUSD event coincides with the inauguration of Sheila Gestring as USD's 18th president. That ceremony is set for 7:30 p.m. in Aalfs Auditorium.

The 1,862 minutes symbolizes the founding of USD in 1862. The official giving day website is www.uniteforusd.org. A student raffle will be drawn at the Unite for USD Giving Day Kick Off at 9:57 a.m. in the Muenster University Center Pit.

$3,000 Coaches Matching Gift for Excellence in Athletics
Thanks to Coach Bob and Terri Nielson, Coach Dawn and Jay Plitzuweit, Coach Todd and Kim Lee, and David and Kelly Herbster, donations made in support of the Excellence in Athletics fund during #UniteforUSD will be matched dollar for dollar up to $3,000!

What is a giving day?
A giving day is an online fundraising event to UNITE all members of the Coyote community – students, partners, staff, faculty, alumni, friends and community leaders - in celebration of USD!

Why do a giving day?
There are many benefits to a giving day! Giving days raise financial support for the University, but they also attract a new segment of donors including young alumni and students, build a culture of philanthropy, and provide opportunities to publicly acknowledge the generosity of those who support USD.

How do I get involved?
Consider sponsoring a match or challenge. Donor funded matches and challenges are proven to drive significant donor activity during online giving days. In fact, donors are twenty percent more likely to give when a match is in play.
What's the difference between a match and a challenge?
By sponsoring a match, you are committing to match each gift given, dollar for dollar, up to a certain amount. A challenge is a call to participate. A donor count threshold is set and reaching that number of donors "unlocks" your gift in any amount.

Is my giving day gift tax deductible?
Yes! Giving day gifts are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. Donors receive e-mail confirmations that serve as a receipt for tax purposes.
