Durham named Summit Player of the Week

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.—South Dakota senior pitcher Dustie Durham was named Summit League softball's inaugural Player of the Week for the 2019 season. It is the first such honor for Durham, who hails from Buckeye, Arizona.

In five games, Durham hit .500 (9-for-18) with a double, two triples and a grand slam home run. She was 3-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs in an 8-2 win against Charleston Southern on Friday, hit her grand slam during an 18-0 win against Dayton Saturday, and drove in the go-ahead runs in the final inning of Sunday's 8-6 victory over CSU.

Durham pitched in four games and made two starts. She went 3-1 with a 1.98 ERA and struck out eight batters in 17 2/3 innings of work. She went the distance in both starts, including a five-hit shutout against Dayton Saturday.

Durham and the Coyotes will spend the next two weekends in Madeira Beach, Florida. First up are Friday games against Quinnipiac and George Mason at 11:30 a.m. (ET) and 2 p.m. (ET), respectively.
