Ciara Duffy and
Chloe Lamb poured in 23 and 19 points, respectively, as the Coyotes fell short of rival South Dakota State 82-78 in overtime on the road Sunday inside Frost Arena.
SDSU (22-6, 14-1 Summit League) snapped South Dakota's (24-4, 12-2) 11-game winning streak in conference play.
Hailing from Rapid City, South Dakota, Duffy had 23 points and nine rebounds on the afternoon.
Lamb, a native of Onida, South Dakota, nearly had the game-winner in regulation for the Coyotes, but her shot bounced around every corner of the rim and fell out with seven seconds on the clock. She scored 12 of her 19 points in the second half, including the final four points of regulation that tied the game 69-69.
Joining the pair in double-figures were sophomore center
Hannah Sjerven and junior guard
Madison McKeever. Sjerven finished with 12 points and six boards. She knocked down a huge 3-pointer in overtime that gave the Coyotes a 75-74 advantage with two minutes to play. McKeever scored five of her 11 points in a second-quarter run that put the Coyotes up 40-29 at the half.
The Jackrabbits were led by senior guard Macy Miller's 28 points, including 12 points from the charity stripe. Miller scored eight points in overtime to lead the Jackrabbits to the win. Junior forward Tagyn Larson finished with a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds, while junior guard Madison Guebert drilled four 3-pointers for 18 points.
South Dakota returns home to host North Dakota State and North Dakota in the final two games of the regular season. Tip-off for the North Dakota State doubleheader is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center. Tickets are available on GoYotes.com.
