SIOUX FALLS, S.D.—South Dakota senior softball player
Jamie Holscher has been named The Summit League Female Athlete of the Month for February the league office announced Tuesday.
It is the first such honor for Holscher who is the fourth Coyote to earn the award this academic year. Three of the last four Female Athletes of the Month have been Coyotes in Taylor Wilson (November), Ciara Duffy (January) and now Holscher.
Holscher led South Dakota to its best start since 2009. She hit .469 (23-for-49) in February with six home runs, 23 RBIs and 12 runs scored. She hit three-run homers in three straight games during USD's first trip to Florida including a walk-off homer against Drexel. She came back the following weekend and homered in three straight games again. One was a walk-off two-run blast that beat Purdue.
In addition to leading the Summit in nearly every offensive category in February, nationally she ranked seventh in RBIs, ninth in total bases (45), 10
th in home runs, 15
th in hits, 36
th in slugging (.918) and 58
th in average.
Holscher and the Coyotes are in Riverside, California, Tuesday for a doubleheader against Cal Baptist University.
