SIOUX FALLS, S.D.—The sixth annual Calling All Coyotes Auction held April 12 at the Sioux Falls Convention Center raised a record $387,000 which will help support the Howling Pack and University of South Dakota student-athletes. The event serves as an evening of celebration dedicated to the achievements of USD student-athletes while recognizing a community that helps create opportunities for their success.
CorTrust Bank was the presenting sponsor for the evening, which included silent and live auctions with auctioneer Wayne Haines, music from The Hegg Brothers, drinks, hors d'oeuvres and dinner. More than 700 people attended the event, including numerous Coyote head coaches and student-athletes. Jay Elsen and South Dakota alumna Kelly Stewart of Midco Sports Network served as emcees.
"We had a record turnout for this year's event and that speaks volumes about our staff, the community and the dedicated volunteers who continue to make this night so special," said USD Athletic Director
David Herbster. "This was a great evening to recognize our student-athletes and celebrate their accomplishments while raising money to support their scholarships."
One week in a four-bedroom Seaside estate in Florida, a Napa Valley private wine tasting for four, and an NFL Hall of Fame package in Canton, Ohio, were among the many items sold during the auction. The $387,000 raised was a record for the event, which has brought in more than $1.8 million for the Howling Pack and student-athlete scholarships.
