VERMILLION, S.D. – South Dakota volleyball coach
Leanne Williamson has announced the addition of Laura Petterson to the 2020 recruiting class.
Petterson, a Sioux Falls Washington prep, will become the fifth member of the 2020 class, joining previous commitments Atley Carey, Brooklyn Schram, Mattie Johnson and Evelyn Diederich.
Petterson, a four-year varsity letterwinner at Washington and a six-rotation player will come into South Dakota as a defensive specialist.
She helped the Warriors to a fourth-place state tournament finish as a senior. She contributed 283 kills, 348 digs and 38 service aces towards a 20-10 season.
Also a four-year letterwinner in track and field, the daughter of Tanya and Kelly Petterson ran on a state title winning 4x100 relay in 2018 that holds the South Dakota all-time best mark of 48.34.

Leanne Williamson said. "Laura has played multiple positions which helps her have a higher volleyball IQ. She is a great addition to our already talented incoming class!"
Petterson joins a Coyote team that fashioned a 31-3 record, won the Summit League regular season title and finished as the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) runner-up in 2019.
