Coyotes Fall to SDSU

BROOKINGS, S.D. – The South Dakota women's soccer program fell to in-state rival South Dakota State 4-0 inside Dana J. Dykhouse stadium Friday night.

The Jacks (6-0-3) struck first in the sixth minute of the game when SDSU's Kayla Wisniewski placed one past the goalkeeper. SDSU struck again 14 minutes before the halftime whistle in the 31st minute to take a 2-0 lead into the break.

In the first half, the Yotes (3-6) recorded two shots and earned one corner kick while redshirt-freshman Caroline Lewis recorded two saves.

In the second half, SDSU placed one in the box but a deflection from USD found its way into the goal to make the score 3-0 in favor of the home team. The Jacks knocked home the game's final goal in the 84th minute. USD was able to get seven shots off in the second half compared to just the two in the first but unfortunately the Yotes weren't able to crack the scoreboard on Friday.

South Dakota recorded nine total shots on the night with five on goal while the Jacks recorded 12 shots and had six on goal.

The two teams will face off once again on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium.
