VERMILLION, S.D.—Coyote athletic director
David Herbster will throw out the first pitch of the Sioux Falls Canaries game on Saturday, Aug. 14, as a part of USD Night at the Birdcage. The Canaries take on the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks at 6:05 p.m.
The South Dakota athletic department will partner with Charlie's Bookstore & Fan Shop and the USD Alumni Association in hosting USD Night. As a part of the promotion, $5 from every online ticket sale will benefit USD's Dakotathon.
USD entertainment will begin at 5:45 p.m. at the park, featuring a photo station with Charlie Coyote and spirit squad members. There will also be USD prize packs raffled off throughout the game.
Charlie's Bookstore & Fan Shop will be on site selling USD apparel. Charlie's donates a portion of sales back to benefit student scholarships. Fans can also order USD apparel ahead of the evening at

Dakotathon is USD's chapter of Dance Marathon. The student group fundraises year-round to benefit the Sanford Children's Miracle Network Castle of Care in Sioux Falls. The 2021-22 school year marks 25 years of Dakotathon on USD's campus with more than a million dollars donated to Children's Miracle Network.
