Coyotes Travel to Creighton, Northern Iowa

VERMILLION, S.D. – The South Dakota Coyotes hit the road four its third and fourth game of the four game road trip. The Yotes will face Creighton Thursday and Northern Iowa on Sunday. This will be the 13th time all-time the Coyotes face off against both the Blue Jays and Panthers.

The Yotes played to overtime in their first two games of the season against Northern State and Colorado State. Against Northern State Maliah Atkins delivered the game winner off a corner kick. In the Colorado State game both teams weren't able to find the back of the net and finished in a scoreless tie. • This is the first time since 2006 where the Yotes went to overtime in their first two games of the season.
 
SERIES HISTORY VS CREIGHTON
The Bluejays own a 11-1 record all-time between the two teams with the first meeting happening in 2007. Speaking of overtimes, the previous two games between the two squads have gone to overtime with each team pulling out a win. Creighton defeated USD the last time the Yotes came to Omaha in 2018.
 
SERIES HISTORY VS NORTHERN IOWA
The Panthers hold a 7-3-2 record all-time dating back to 2007. UNI took home the 2-1 victory the last time the two faced off in 2019. The last time USD traveled to UNI, it resulted in a scoreless tie.
 
A LOOK ACROSS THE PITCH
The Blue Jays have found success early on in the season bringing in a 3-1 record so far this season. The Blue Jays are outscoring their opponents 7-2 on the season. CU's only loss was to Tulsa by a score of 1-0. Five players have scored for Creighton so far this season. Northern Iowa brings in a record of 1-2-1 so far this season. The Panthers defeated Viterbo 6-0 before recording a scoreless tie with new Summit League member St. Thomas. In their last game the offense came alive but weren't able to outscore Western Illinois losing 4-3.
 
BIG TEAM
After only losing one starter and gaining eight freshmen the 2021 South Dakota women's soccer roster boast 37 players. The Yotes have 24 underclassmen ranging from eight different states.
 
ONE FOR THE RECORD BOOKS
Outside of the team accomplishment's last season, the Yotes had a number of players earn a spot in the record book. Taylor Cotter moved to third all-time with 13 assists while Alexis Mitchell moved to fifth with 12 assists in a career. Cotter moved to second in a single season with eight assists and Mitchell cashed in her four penalty goal to move to third all-time. Emma Harkleroad's name is in just about every goalkeeper career stat. She is ninth in all-time saves, fifth in save percentage, second in goals against average, seventh in most wins and seventh in most shutouts. Both Alexis Mitchell and Abby Ostrem are in the top-10 for minutes played all-time at USD while Taylor Ravelo is eighth all-time in game winning goals.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Coyotes played in their second straight OT recording a scoreless tie to Colorado State before dropping a 2-1 decision to Wyoming this past weekend. The Yotes scored in the second minute but the Cowgirls scored the game's next two goals to take the win.
