OMAHA, Neb. – For the third time this season, the South Dakota Coyotes have gone to overtime. This time the Yotes played to a scoreless draw with Creighton on Thursday night at Morrison Stadium. USD moves to 1-1-2 on the season while Creighton records its first tie and sits at 3-1-1.
How it Happened
- The Coyotes played to a scoreless 90 minutes for the third game this season. In its first two games, the Yotes scored a golden goal and have finished in a tie.
- Creighton fired off shots left and right at fifth year senior Emma Harkleroad but were unable to connect on a goal after 110 minutes of action.
- Harkleroad faced nine shots in the first half and 12 in the second half.
- After 90 minutes of action, the Yotes defense had recorded their third game of zero goals in regulation.
- Creighton had several shots miss just wide, hit the crossbars and post or get blocked by a Yote defender.
- In the 60th minute Creighton's Cristina Garriga got a jump on the Yotes' defense and was able to clean look on goal at the top of the box, but Harkleroad came up clutch for the Yotes.
- Harkleroad once again made a huge save for the Yotes getting in front of a shot from the left side of the box to help secure the shutout.
Game Notes
- Harkleroad faced 29 shots tonight and recorded 10 saves while allowing zero goals.
- The Coyotes record their third shutout of the season and have only allowed two goals in four games on the season.
- Creighton had 11 shots on goal while the Yotes didn't record a shot.
