The South Dakota women's soccer team defeated Oral Roberts on senior day at First Bank & Trust Soccer Complex. The Coyotes took the lead midway through the first before the Golden Eagles tied the game early in the second half. USD managed to find the go-ahead goal in the 73rd minute and ended the home schedule with a 2-1 win. South Dakota (4-7-5, 3-2-2 Summit) stands in fourth place after today's contest while Oral Roberts (9-7-1, 4-3-0 Summit) stays put at third place in the conference standings.

The Coyotes opened the scoring in the 32nd minute off a misplay from the Golden Eagles. After ORU turned the ball over near its own box,
Shaylee Gailus charged forward and outdueled two defenders and snuck one to the bottom right portion of the goal. Gailus' goal was her fourth of the season and gave USD the lead heading into halftime.

Just three minutes into the second 45, ORU found the equalizer off the foot of Samantha Guzman. The Coyotes continued to press and found the game-winning goal in the 73rd minute. Fifth-year senior
Joana Zanin, playing in her final home game for South Dakota, made a great run in the middle of the field. She took a few dribbles to the right side of the box and chipped her fifth goal of the season over the goalkeeper's head to give USD the 2-1 lead. The Golden Eagles were stymied the rest of the game as USD earned a big three points on senior day.

South Dakota registered seven shots with three of those on goal. Zanin led the team with three shots and two on goal while Gailus,
Ashby Johnston,
Anna Hossfeld, and
Hattie Giblin earned a shot apiece. Goalkeeper
Caroline Lewis limited the Summit League's best offense to one goal while making a career-high eight saves on the day. Lewis has not allowed more than one goal in her last three matches after Sunday's game.

The Coyotes will close out the season next week in the state of North Dakota. South Dakota will play at North Dakota State first before the season finale against North Dakota on Oct. 23. The Summit League Championships being with the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds on Oct. 28 and Oct. 30.
