The South Dakota women's golf team wrapped up the Johnie Imes Invitational on Wednesday with a 303 score in round three. The Coyotes recorded a 907 three-round total and an eighth-place finish at the Johnie Imes Invitational. Freshman
Catie Nekola led the team with a top-15 finish in the second tournament of her Coyote career.
Nekola closed out the tournament with a three-over par 75 in round three. She scored birdies on two of the first five holes of her day and had a streak of seven straight pars leading into the front nine. Nekola had eight birdies in the three rounds and earned a tie for 14th place with a 222 (77-70-75) total.
Akari Hayashi recorded a top-20 finish at the Johnie Imes Invitational as well. Hayashi posted the best score for South Dakota on day three with an even-par 72. She carded two birdies on the day and recorded a one-under par front nine to close out the tournament. Hayashi's three-day total of 224 (81-71-72) placed her in a tie for 17th place individually.
Molly Fossen capped off the Johnie Imes Invitational with a six-over par 78 in the final round. She had three birdies on the day with of those coming on par-three holes. Fossen's tournament total of 229 (75-76-78) placed her in a tie for 31st place.
Danica Badura ended her tournament with a six-over par 78. Badura led the team with nine birdies during the three-day event after adding three more to her total on Wednesday. She finished in a tie for 56th place after a 234 (80-76-70) three-round total.
Emma Henningsson recorded an eight-over par 80 in the third round. She sank two birdies on the day with both of those coming on the front nine. Henningsson finished in a tie for 61st place after a 235 (80-75-80) tournament total.
The Coyotes spring back into action next week for a two-day event in Tacoma, Washington. The Pat Lesser-Harbottle Invitational begins on October 3 from the Tacoma Country and Golf Club.
