South Dakota wraps up its trip to the state of Utah in a Sunday afternoon match against Utah Tech. Both teams head into Sunday's match in search of their second win of the season.
 
The Series
Today's game will be the first time the Coyotes and Trailblazers have met in program history.
 
The Coyotes
South Dakota is coming off a loss to Southern Utah on Friday night. The Coyotes outshot SUU 7-6 in that game but were unable to find the back of the net whereas the Thunderbirds were able to do so twice. Taylor Cotter led the team with three shots and two of those on goal.
 
Senior forward Shaylee Gailus leads the team with three goals and seven points on the season. Taylor Ravelo and Cotter have two goals while Cotter adds two assists to her stat line on the year. Goalkeeper Caroline Lewis leads the team with 487 minutes in net this season while Ravelo is second on the team with 462 minutes played.
 
The Trailblazers
Formerly known as Dixie State, Utah Tech has only played three games so far this season and hold a 1-2 record. They opened up the season with a loss to Colorado State and split against Summit League opponents in the last week, The Trailblazers lost 2-0 to North Dakota State before upending St. Thomas 1-0 last Monday. UT begins a five-game homestand starting with South Dakota Sunday afternoon.
 
Senior Lauren Buxton and junior Karli Nyland claim the two goals for Utah Tech this season. Kayla Thompson has played every minute thus far for the Trailblazers in net. She holds a 1.33 goals against average and a 73.3 save percentage on the year. UT returns 15 players from the 2021 season and welcome in 14 freshman and six transfers to their squad.
