The Game
The Coyotes will wrap up their final home game of the season Sunday when they take on the North Dakota State Bison at 1 p.m. at First Bank and Trust Soccer Complex. This will be South Dakota's Pink Game as well.
Â
The Series
South Dakota (6-4-4, 2-2-1 Summit) has won three of the last four matchups against North Dakota State (4-5-6, 0-2-4 Summit). In 2020, the Coyotes beat the Bison twice, both games ending 3-0.
Â
The Coyotes
South Dakota salvaged a point at Omaha and fell 3-1 to Denver during its toughest road trip of the season last week. Freshman
Kyla Brown scored her first collegiate goal just before halftime in the match against the Pioneers and became the Coyotes' 10th goal scorer this season. This goal came off a corner kick from
Maliah Atkins that made contact with
Lexie Wood and
Taylor Ravelo before being booted off Brown's foot and into the back of the net.Â
Â
Ashby Johnston remains the team's leading goal scorer with seven, which ranks second in the Summit League. Senior goalkeeper
Caroline Lewis had eight saves in last week's road game. South Dakota has posted six shutouts this season.
Â
The Bison
North Dakota State is desparate for three points Sunday with only first-place Denver left on its slate. Goalkeeper Abby Wilkerson has nine career shutouts, but the Bison haven't scored in their last four matches including a scoreless tie with North Dakota last time out.Â
Â
Junior midfielder Olivia Watson and freshman Amaya Garrett have combined for seven of the Bison's 17 goals this season. Watson scored twice and added an assist in North Dakota State's 4-1 win against South Dakota in Fargo last season.
