ST. LOUIS—South Dakota placekicker Will Leyland has been named the Missouri Valley Football Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for the period ended Oct. 15.
 
Leyland, who hails from Souderton, Pennsylvania, made a 41-yard field goal as time expired to lift South Dakota to a 34-31 win against No. 20/23 Youngstown State Saturday inside the DakotaDome. It was his second 41-yard field goal of the game and it also marks a career long. Leyland improved to 6-for-6 on field goals this season.
 
South Dakota next takes on Indiana State Saturday in Terre Haute, Indiana.
