**UPDATE** (11:45 a.m.) The start of today's game has been pushed back to at least 3 p.m. due to rain
South Dakota and Omaha are the lone unbeaten teams in the Summit League Tournament and they face off at 1 p.m. Friday in Brookings for the right to play for a championship Saturday.
Â
The Coyotes (24-26) upset top-seeded South Dakota State 2-0 Thursday and will try to make lightning strike twice when facing the second-seeded Mavericks Friday. Omaha has won all seven matchups against South Dakota dating back to last season including a 3-1 win in last year's tournament.
Â
South Dakota State rebounded from its loss to South Dakota and knocked out North Dakota State with a 10-2 decision Thursday evening. The Jackrabbits will face the loser of today's 1 p.m. game in an elimination contest at 3:30 p.m. The winner of that game also advances to Saturday's final and will have to win twice to take the crown.
Â
South Dakota pitcher
Clara Edwards has pitched back-to-back shutouts to carry the Coyotes to this point. She bested Pitcher of the Year Tori Kniesche from SDSU Thursday. She will be up against a similar dragon in Omaha's Kamryn Meyer Friday. Meyer has the 11
th-best ERA in the nation (1.21) and ranks sixth in strikeouts with 242.
Â
One win Friday would send South Dakota to the championship series for the third time. The Coyotes were runner-up at this event in both 2015 and 2019.
