The Game
The Coyotes take their first road trip to Pocatello, Idaho, to play against the Idaho State Bengals at 8 p.m. Central on Friday night. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
The Series
This is the second meeting between the two programs. The last time the Coyotes played the Bengals was in 2019, where South Dakota won 2-0 against Idaho State in its season opener.
The Coyotes
South Dakota (1-1-2) got the ball rolling on Tuesday with a 7-0 win against the Morningside Mustangs, a former NCC foe. The Coyotes took a 2-0 lead in the first half of the match, then scored a barrage of three goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half with two from
Shaylee Gailus. In the 74
th minute of the match,
Maggie Pallesen scored her first collegiate goal, and the last goal of the game for the Coyotes.
Six different Coyotes have combined for 11 goals this season, tallying an average of 2.75 goals per game.
Rylee Haldeman and
Ashby Johnston both scored for the second consecutive match after South Dakota's 3-3 tie against Wyoming, the defending Mountain West Champions who remain unbeaten this season.
Izzy Quintavalle leads the Coyotes in assists this fall with three, while
Brooke Conway and
Ashby Johnston add two apiece.
Caroline Lewis has started between the posts in all four games this fall, recording 15 saves with one shutout.
The Bengals
Idaho State (0-4) will host South Dakota for its second home match of the season. The Bengals started the fall on the road for three-straight games at UC Davis, St. Mary's and the ACC's Wake Forest.
Kelsey Jargstorf, Lydia Keller and Chelsea Radicia have split time in goal this season. Keller leads the goalkeeping unit with 14 saves this fall. Isabella Winton scored the Bengals' lone goal this fall against St. Mary's with Brooklyn Kouns tallying the assist on the goal.
