The Coyotes are back on the road headed to Des Moines, Iowa, to take on the Drake Bulldogs Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m.
 
The Series
South Dakota has won three of the last four meetings, with the most recent matchup ending in a 2-2 tie (Sept. 8, 2022). The last time the Coyotes played in Des Moines, they defeated the Bulldogs 2-1 (Sept. 17, 2019). Drake has not defeated South Dakota since 2016.
 
The Coyotes
South Dakota (2-2-3) is back on the road after hosting the University of Northern Iowa on Thursday in Vermillion. The Coyotes struck first to lead the Panthers 1-0 early, but a pair of second-half goals propelled UNI to a 3-1 win.
 
Forward 
Ashby Johnston leads the Coyotes with four goals on the season. Freshman 
Brooke Conway scored her first collegiate goal in South Dakota's match against Idaho State on Sept. 1. Senior goalkeeper 
Caroline Lewis recorded her second shutout of the season and seventh of her career in the Coyotes' 0-0 draw with Utah State on Sept. 3.
 
The Bulldogs
Drake (4-1-2) is coming off a 1-0 win over the Summit League's Omaha on Sunday in Des Moines. The Bulldogs also defeated North Dakota State 2-0 earlier this season but fell to South Dakota's Summit rival South Dakota State 2-1. The match against South Dakota will mark the fifth Summit League opponent the Bulldogs have faced this season.
 
The Bulldogs are on a four-match win streak after the win over Omaha on Sunday. Senior forward Emma Nagel scored her 12
th career goal to propel the Bulldogs over the Mavericks. Freshman goalkeeper Addie Ford was named the MVC Goalkeeper of the Week after posting 11 saves in Drake's 1-1 draw with St. Thomas on Sept. 7. It was the most saves in a single game by a Drake goalkeeper and the first double-digit save game for the Bulldogs since 2021.

The Coyotes return to Vermillion to wrap up the nonconference slate against Lindenwood on Sept. 16. South Dakota will honor its 12 seniors prior to the match at First Bank & Trust Soccer Complex. Summit play begins on Sept. 21 as the Coyotes host St. Thomas.
