SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — South Dakota junior
Kamryn Farris was named the Summit League Defensive Peak Performer of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon. It is Farris' second career weekly accolade as she picked up the weekly accolade once last season.
Farris was all over the floor last week for the Coyotes, totaling 71 digs across three matches with a 5.46 digs per set average. Farris recorded 20 or more digs in each match last week, including a 28-dig performance in USD's 3-1 win at Kansas City. Farris added her name to the USD record book in Tuesday's match against South Dakota State by recording her 1,000-career dig as a Coyote.
In USD's 3-2 loss at SDSU, Farris totaled 22 digs, five assists and one service ace. In the four-set wins over Denver and Kansas City, Farris tallied 21 and 28 digs, respectively. She also had two service aces against the Roos.
Farris has recorded double-digit digs in 20 of 21 matches this season and in 18 straight contests. She ranks second in the Summit League in total digs (380), digs per set (4.58) and aces (31).
"Kamryn has been a consistent defender for us over the course of this season," said head coach
Leanne Williamson. "She is able to cover a lot of ground defensively, which keeps us in rallies often. I am proud of her commitment to getting better each day!"
Farris and the Coyotes are back in the Sanford Coyote Sports Center this week for a pair of matches against North Dakota on Thursday and Oral Roberts on Saturday.
