Football Signs 11 Athletes on Early National Signing Day

VERMILLION, S.D. — Head coach Bob Nielson and the University of South Dakota football team announced the signing of 11 student-athletes for the 2025 roster on Wednesday, December 4, on national signing day across the nation.
 
This first group of signings features six offensive guys and five defensive guys. Write-ups on each newly signed Coyote can be found below.
 
Jaden Brown / DB / 5-9 / 172 / Orlando, Fla. / Edgewater H.S.
Brown recorded 10 career interceptions at Edgewater High School (Fla.) and is a native of Orlando, Fla.
 
He's the son of Jeremy Brown and Satara Scott and intends to study business at South Dakota.
 
Max Coles / DL / 6-4 / 240 / Shakopee, Minn. / Shakopee H.S.
Coles, a native of Shakopee, Minn., is a two-time All-District, First Team All-State, and an All-Star game selection hailing from Shakopee High School. He was a three-year starter and a team captain, recording 90 tackles in his senior season.
 
He is the son of Art Coles and Alicia Coles and plans to study business at USD.
 
Lucas Feldkamp / OL / 6-5 / 305 / Sioux Falls, S.D. / Brandon Valley H.S.
Feldkamp, an All-Metro and All-State offensive lineman, will join the Coyotes next season after being a three-year starter for the Brandon Valley High School football team. During his time at Brandon Valley, he was named the Tate Johnson Offensive Player of the Year.
 
He is the son of Jonathan and Caroline Feldkamp and intends to major in business and mathematics at South Dakota.
 
Chris Herrin / TE / 6-5 / 230 / Terre Haute, Ind. / South Vigo H.S.
Hailing from the state of Indiana, Herrin comes to Vermillion following a school record with 66 receptions in a single-season at South Vigo High School (Ind.) as a tight end. A one-time All-State and three-time All-Conference performer in his high school career; bringing down 1,500+ receiving yards on 112 receptions and 13 touchdowns.
 
He is the son of Tim and Cathy Herrin with the intended major of business administration at South Dakota.
 
Carter Holmes / OL / 6-3 / 280 / Atkins, Iowa / Benton Community H.S.
The Iowa Class 3A-District 5 Offensive Lineman of the Year will join the Coyotes next season. Holmes was a three-year starter at Benton Community High School.
 
He is the son of Alex and Melissa Holmes and has career aspirations to earn a Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy.
 
Dylan Hudgens / LB / 6-2 / 215 / Minnetonka, Minn. / Minnetonka H.S.
A linebacker out of Minnetonka, Minnesota, Hudgens will join the Coyote defensive unit in 2025. An All-State and three-time All-District performer, the Minnetonka prep brings 120 tackles (69 solo), 17 tackles for loss, and a sack this past season to Vermillion.
 
Hudgens is the son of Eric and Kerry Hudgens. He plans on studying business at the University of South Dakota.
 
Evan Kludt / WR / 6-3 / 185 / Alexandria, Minn. / Alexandria H.S.
Star Tribune Top-25 athlete in the State of Minnesota, Coyote commit Evan Kludt comes to Vermillion after being named an All-Conference wide receiver and earning an invite to the All-Star game. In his senior season, he brought down 54 receptions for 728 yards and seven touchdowns.
 
In his prep career at Alexandria High School, he had 100 receptions for 1,667 yards and 21 touchdowns.
 
He is the son of Jeff and Shannan Patience and plans to study exercise science at South Dakota.
 
Lathan McDaniel / OL / 6-3 / 285 / Indianola, Iowa / Indianola H.S.
Lathan McDaniel, the two-time First Team All-District honoree from Indianola High School (Iowa) joins the Coyotes next fall. He was also named the OL MVP, plus First Team All-State honors.
 
The son of Lisa and Alan McDaniel; McDaniel intends to be a Pre-Med major at USD.
 
Austyn Modrzewski / QB / 6-5 / Littleton, Colorado / Mountain Vista H.S.
The Colorado Gatorade Player of the Year in Modrzewski makes it official with the Coyotes following a two-time First Team All-State honoree at Mountain Vista High School (Colo.).
 
The Littleton, Colorado native threw for nearly 12,000 career passing yards at Mountain Vista with 147 touchdowns. This past season, the quarterback threw for 3,400+ yards and 57 touchdowns at a clip of 73.4%. He was named a three-time First Team All-Conference performer, plus a three-time Offensive Player of the Year.
 
Modrzewski is the son of Lydia and Nathan Modrzewski and intends on being a business major at the University of South Dakota.
 
Calib Svoboda / DL / 6-2 / 265 / David City, Neb. / Bishop Neumann H.S.
An All-State defensive line performer, Svoboda signed with South Dakota following a career of 70 tackles (57 solo) with 14 tackles for loss, four sacks, and three forced fumbles at Bischop Neumann High School (Neb.).
 
He is the son of Ryan and Heidy Svobada with career ambitions to become a chiropractor.
 
Cain Wallner / LB / 6-2 / 215 / Canton, S.D. / Canton H.S.
The two-time Elite 45 Team Member, Cain Wallner will rep the red and white next fall, signing as a linebacker. He was a three-time All-Conference and two-time All-State honoree in his prep career.
 
Playing at Canton High School (S.D.), Wallner recorded 236 career tackles with 14 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, two interceptions, and three forced fumbles. In his senior season, he had 71 tackles with two tackles for loss, a sack, and three forced fumbles.
 
He is the son of Justin and Amanda Wallner with plans to Kinesiology and Sport Management at USD.
