Medeck named Summit League Peak Newcomer of the Month

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — South Dakota volleyball's Lauren Medeck was named the Summit League's Female Peak Newcomer of the Month, as announced by the conference Wednesday.
 
Medeck helped lead the Coyotes to a Summit League Tournament Championship, the Yotes fifth in seven years, and earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. This is Medeck's first conference monthly honor. Medeck was also recognized as the Summit League's Offensive Peak Performer of the Week on Sept. 10.
 
On the month, Medeck tallied 87 kills, five aces, 111 digs and 14 blocks.
Medeck opened up the month of November with three straight double-doubles, averaging 13.7 kills and 18.0 digs per match. In the third game of that stretch, Medeck put away a team-high 16 kills and tallied a career-high 27 digs.
 
In her first match in the Summit League Tournament, Medeck was one of two Coyotes to register double-digit kills (10) in the 3-0 sweep of Kansas City. Medeck was error-free in the match and held a .435 hitting percentage to go with seven digs. In the championship match, she recorded her 13th double-double of the season with 13 kills and 19 digs. Medeck also had two aces and a block against the Jackrabbits.
