NASHVILLE, Tenn. – South Dakota defeated Tennessee State 5-2 Wednesday night in Nashville.

The Tigers took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning off a Jasmine Blackburn RBI. Blackburn singled up the middle to bring in Alexis Woods and Nahtali Simpson. Tennessee State held the lead until the bottom of the sixth inning when the Coyotes responded with back-to-back scoring at-bats.

Clara Edwards hit a sacrifice fly to right field to bring in
Alecea Mendoza. It was Edwards' fifth RBI of the season and it advanced Tatum Vilotta to third base. The very next at-bat,
Delaney White hit a double to center field, bringing in Vilotta and giving the Coyotes a 5-2 lead that would carry them to the end of the game.

Edwards tallied her ninth win in the pitcher's circle and threw 10 strikeouts.
