BROOKINGS, S.D. – South Dakota (23-30) fell to South Dakota State and Kansas City on day two of the Summit League Tournament in Brookings.

The first game of the day was stayed close as it was a scoreless affair for the first two and a half innings. South Dakota State struck first and had a big bottom of the third inning, scoring four runs to take a 4-0 lead. The Coyotes got a few on-base but were unable to capitalize.

Freshman
McKenna Young threw the first five innings for South Dakota, throwing two strikeouts and finishing the season 5-8 overall.
Madi Mangulis threw the final inning for the Yotes.

KC 7, USD 3
On the bottom half of the bracket, South Dakota and Kansas City battled it out to try and stay alive in the tournament. Kansas City took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but the Coyotes responded in the top of the second inning to tie it up at 2-2.

South Dakota took its first lead of the game in the top of the third inning when
Clara Edwards hit a big triple that brought in
Delaney White for the 3-2 lead.

The Roos responded big the fifth inning, taking over the game by bringing in five runs to take a 7-3 lead over the Coyotes.

Edwards pitched the first 4.2 innings for South Dakota and threw two strikeouts.
Kori Wedeking took her final turn in the pitcher's circle for the Yotes, throwing the final 1.1 innings.
