VERMILLION, S.D. — Three University of South Dakota football players were named to the STATS Perform All-America teams, highlighted by
Will Leyland named to the Second Team.
JJ Galbreath and
Carter Bell were both tabbed to the Third Team.
Coming off a campaign that saw Leyland (R-Jr., Souderton, Pa.) go a perfect 13-for-13 on field goal attempts, including nailing his lone 50+ yard field goal right at 50 yards against South Dakota State on October 28 last season. He was named a Second Team All-MVFC performer in 2023 and enters the season as a First Team performer pick.
A pair of Coyotes were tabbed Third Team All-America selections by the organization. 2025 East-West Shrine Bowl watch list member Galbreath (Sr., Arvada, Colo.) checks in as a Third Team selection. He sat second on the team in receptions (36) and yards (579) a season ago, landing him 2023 Honorable Mention All-MVFC honors. He sat tied with Bell for the team lead with his five touchdown receptions, averaging 16.1 yards per catch.
Another preseason First Team All-MVFC pick in Bell (Sr., Bettendorf, Iowa) was also honored as a Third Team selection. Last season, Bell led the team with his 908 receiving yards and was tied for the team lead with five touchdown receptions. Bringing down 52 receptions, he averaged 17.5 yards per catch and had a long for 63 yards.
