VERMILLION, S.D. – In a high-scoring Summit League showdown at First Bank & Trust Soccer Complex, the South Dakota Coyotes came up just short, falling 4–3 to North Dakota State. Despite a dominant offensive performance outshooting the Bison 25-8 and earning 14 corner kicks, the Coyotes couldn't overcome a late NDSU goal and dropped to 5-3-4 (1-1-0 Summit).
FIRST HALF
The Coyotes hit the back of the net first in the first half with a goal by Brooklyn Bordson off a perfectly placed pass by Izzy Quintavalle. The Bison answered in the 32nd minute, as Stadden finished a well-worked play assisted by Isabel Garcia and Morgan Russmann, leveling the match at 1-1 going into halftime.
SECOND HALF
The second half turned into a shootout. NDSU took their first lead in the 59th minute on a goal from Garcia, only for USD to respond five minutes later through Gabbie Ryan, who calmly converted a penalty kick for her first goal of the season. The Bison regained the lead in the 73rd minute with an unassisted strike from Loretta Wacek, but once again, the Coyotes had an answer. Just three minutes later, Mali Van Meeteren finished a chance created by Brooke Conway, tying the match at 3-3.
However, North Dakota State had the final say. In the 83rd minute, Stadden scored her second of the night off assists from Hannah Arnold and Onyx Kennington, sealing the road victory for the Bison.
South Dakota was shown one yellow card in the 59th minute to Sam Luft.
The Coyotes are staying home this week taking on the North Dakota Fighting Hawks this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. This will also be the annual pink game for the Yotes.
