This was a match that we had to have and we came out ready to go today," head coach
Brett Barnett said. "We were all disappointed with how Friday went and we played a smart determined match today. Â We played really smart doubles today with our tactics and positioning and it paid off."
South Dakota senior duo of
Grace Chadick and
Bea Havlickova got things started with a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles.
Selena Bird and
Katarina Curcic claimed a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles to earn the full point for the team. Both doubles tandems are now 3-1 in Summit League play.Â

"Great effort from everyone across the board in singles," Barnett said. "We won this match by how smart we played and kept it together.Â
"St Thomas is a good team and we had some moments where things didn't look great but we did an unbelievable job believing in how we were playing and gutted this win out."
South Dakota will play its final road match of the regular season when it travels to Grand Forks on Friday for a test against North Dakota.Â
"Huge match on the road Friday against UND," added Barnett. "We know what we're playing for and we have to be ready to compete and play with heart for each other."
