Football Announces Transfer Signing Class

VERMILLION, S.D. — The University of South Dakota football program and head coach Travis Johansen have announced their 2025 transfer signing class, heading into the 2025 season this fall.
 
This year's transfer class includes 25 athletes, at the time of this release: 12 on the offensive side of the ball and 13 on the defensive side of the ball. In total, 15 of the transfers are FBS transfers with 11 coming from Power 4 squads, while four are FCS-to-FCS transfers. Four other incoming Coyotes are coming from the junior college ranks.

2025 TRANFER SIGNINGS

Jaylen Anderson
RB | 5-11 | 215 lbs. | R-Sr. | Perry, Ohio
Spent four seasons, including redshirt year, at the University of West Virginia (2021-24). He had 88 carries for 456 yards and three touchdowns in 22 games played as a Mountaineer. Anderson earned Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Week against Oklahoma State in 2022 as a redshirt freshman, where he ran for 155 yards on 15 carries with a long of 57 yards and two touchdowns.


Anderson was a four-star prospect out of high school (247Sports.com) and a three-star from ESPN. He was ranked as the No. 6-best all-purpose back in the country according to 247Sports.com.
 
Jackson Accuardi
TE  | 6-7 | 250 lbs. | Fr. | DeForest, Wis.
Originally committed to University of West Virginia (Dec. 2024) before transferring to South Dakota after the spring season in April 2025.
 
Accuardi, entering his first collegiate season in 2025, played for Aaron Mack at DeForest High School (Wis.)—the same high school as Coyote punter, Tyler Ebel. He was ranked as a three-star prospect by ESPN, 247Sports.com, On3, and Rivals. 247Sports listed him as the No. 70 tight end nationally, while ranked as the No. 13 overall prospect in the state of Wisconsin. Out of high school, he was offered by Colorado, Duke, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Louisville, Michigan State, Missouri, and Vanderbilt.
 
Jaylen Boehm-Peterson
DB  | 6-3 | 190 lbs. | So. | Minneapolis, Minn.
Boehm-Peterson transferred to USD after two seasons, including redshirt year, at Iowa Western CC (2023-24). As a redshirt freshman in 2024, he appeared in 12 games and recorded 23 tackles. He had an interception in the 38-0 shutout win at Garden City CC.
 
Torriq Brumfield
DB  | 5-11 | 205 lbs. | Jr. | Pasadena, Calif.
Brumfield spent his true freshman season at Pasadena City College (JuCo) where he played two seasons and played in 21 games. He posted 107.0 tackles with seven sacks, while recovering three fumbles and having three interceptions.
 
Jeff Bowie
DL  | 6-5 | 270 lbs. | R-Sr. | West Branch, Iowa
Bowie spent the last four seasons at the University of Iowa (2021-24), including his redshirt season in 2021. Played his first games as a Hawkeye in 2024 (three games) but recorded no statistics.
 
Tennel Bryant
WR  | 5-7 | 165 lbs. | Jr. | Cincinnati, Ohio
Bryant spent his first two seasons at Arkansas State University (2023-24) where he appeared in 22 games as a Red Wolf. Appearing mainly on special teams, Bryant brought down seven receptions for 65 yards in his two seasons at Arkansas State. He appeared in 22 games for the Red Wolves and had seven receptions for 52 yards. He earned a spot on the Arkansas State Athletic Director's honor roll in each of his two seasons at A-State.
 
A three-star prospect out of high school by 247Sports.com, listing him as the No. 157 wide receiver in the nation and No. 36 overall player out of the state of Ohio. Bryant also received offers out of high school from Air Force, Army, Central Michigan, Massachusetts, Navy, and Toledo.
 
Deshawn Carter
DB  | 5-9 | 160 lbs. | Sr. | Minneapolis, Minn.
Transferring from the Division II ranks, Carter spent two seasons at Minot State (2023-24) in North Dakota, following two seasons at Minnesota Tech (JuCo). At Minot, he played in 16 games with 36 tackles for the Beavers, while also recording 11 pass break-ups and 1.5 tackles for loss.
 
Jackson Cowgill
DL  | 6-4 | 295 lbs. | R-Fr. | Erie, Colo.
Spent one season at Washington State University (2024) where he redshirted, did not appear in any games as a Cougar. He joins his brother, Mason (TE), at South Dakota for the 2025 season.
 
A three-star prospect out of high school by ESPN, Rivals, and 247Sports, being rated as the No. 10 overall prospect out of the state of Colorado by 247Sports. He helped lead his team to the Colorado 4A state championship as a senior.   


Caden Crawford
DL | 6-4 | 265 lbs. | R-Jr. | Lansing, Kan.
Spent three seasons at the University of Iowa (2022-24), including his redshirt season in 2022. Played in four games for the Hawkeyes in his two eligible seasons. He appeared in three games for the Hawks in 2024.
 
Almarion Crim
OL  | 6-2 | 285 lbs. | R-Sr. | Adamsville, Ala.
Crims spent two seasons at the University of Houston (2021-22) before transferring to the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga for the previous two seasons (2023-24). Played in 18 games in his collegiate career, all at Chattanooga, starting every game.
 
He was a three-star OL prospect by 247Sports and the No. 189 offensive tackle nationally (247Sports) … the No. 92 prospect from the state of Alabama also had offers from Air Force, Army, Duke, ECU, Georgia Tech, Tulsa, USF, among others.
 
Will Graunke
WR  | 6-3 | 215 lbs. | R-Fr. | Rockford, Minn.
Transferred to USD after a redshirt season at the University of St. Thomas (2024).
 
Dallas Holmes
TE  | 6-5 | 240 lbs. | R-Jr. | Bethlehem, Pa.
Holmes spent three seasons at Lafayette College (Pa.) where he had 22 receptions for 304 yards and six touchdowns. He was a 2024 Second Team All-Patriot League (TE) selection. 
 
Nathan Laperi
DB  | 6-3 | 250 lbs. | So. | Plano, Texas
Laperi transferred to USD after his true freshman season at the University of North Texas (2024), where he appeared in eight games and recorded a pair of tackles.
 
Wyatt Lawson
OL  | 6-2 | 305 lbs. | R-Sr. | Plant City, Fla.
Lawson transferred to USD after four seasons at Florida International University (2021-24), including his redshirt season in 2021. He appeared in 26 games in his FIU career.
 
DJ Kennard
DB  | 6-3 | 190 lbs. | R-Fr. | Falls Church, Va.
Transferred to USD after a redshirt season at Michigan State University (2024).
 
Ty Morris
DB  | 5-11 | 180 lbs. | So. | Fillmore, Calif.
Spent his true freshman season at Ventura Community College (Calif.), playing in 11 games with 49 tackles, one sack, a fumble forced and recovered, and 12 pass break-ups.
 
Ashton Paine
DB  | 6-1 | 180 lbs. | R-So. | Tumwater, Wash.
Paine transferred to USD after two seasons at Washington State University (2023-24), including his redshirt season. He appeared in four games on special teams in 2024 before missing the rest of the season with an injury.
 
Calen Presser
DL  | 6-7 | 235 lbs. | R-So. | Liberty, Mo.
Transferred to USD after two seasons at Arkansas State University (2023-24), including his redshirt season in 2023. Did not see any game action as a Red Wolf. Presser also received interests from Army West Point out of high school.
 
Ty Robinson
QB  | 6-3 | 220 lbs. | R-Fr. | Lutz, Fla.
Spent his true freshman season at the College of Holy Cross (Mass.). He did not compete in any contests and redshirted.
 
Grady Sherrill
WR  | 5-9 | 180 lbs. | R-Jr. | Greensboro, N.C.
Spent three seasons at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2023-24), redshirting in 2022. He appeared in one game in 2023 against Campbell.
 
Brandon Smith
OL  | 6-1 | 295 lbs. | R-So. | Waldorf, Md.
Transferred to USD after two seasons at Merrimack College (Mass.) (2023-24), participated in spring ball as a Coyote in 2025. Participated in 13 games as a Warrior, redshirted his freshman year (2023).
 
Tyler Soukhot
DB  | 5-9  | 175 lbs. | R-Sr. | Pasadena, Calif.
Spent two seasons at the University of Kansas. Never saw any game action.
 
Reid Watkins
RB  | 5-11 | 195 lbs. | R-Fr. | Fort Worth, Texas
Spent his true freshman season at the University of Texas, where he redshirted as a Longhorn in 2024.
 
Kainen White
DL  | 6-0 | 320 lbs. | So. | Coffeyville, Kan.
White comes to South Dakota after his freshman season at Butler Community College (Kan.) where he played nine of the 11 games for Butler on the defensive line. He posted 22 tackles (nine solo) with 0.5 sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss on the season.
 
Brock Woolf
OL  | 6-5 | 290 lbs. | R-So. | Brewster, Kan.
Spent two seasons at the Kansas State University (2023-24), including his redshirt season in 2023. He did not see any game action as a Wildcat in his two seasons in Manhattan.
