08.31.2025

Box Score

VERMILLION, S.D. — The South Dakota Women's Soccer team wrapped up its road trip on a high note, earning a 1-0 win over the Idaho Vandals on Sunday. Klarissa Vega netted her fourth goal of the season, securing the Coyotes victory and handing Idaho its first home loss since 2023.

The opening half was a tightly contested battle. Both teams struggled to break through defensively. South Dakota registered three shots in the first 45 minutes, though none were on target. Idaho responded with four shots, including one on goal that was saved by goalkeeper Campbell Fischer.

Momentum shifted in the second half as both sides came out with increased intensity. The breakthrough came in the 57th minute when Vega capitalized and scored an unassisted goal putting the Coyotes ahead. South Dakota continued to apply pressure and recorded two more shots to extend the lead.

Idaho responded with four second-half shots, one of which tested Fischer again, but the Coyotes defense held strong to preserve the win.

South Dakota now returns home to Vermillion to host Central Michigan on Sunday, September 7. Kickoff is set for 11:00 a.m.
