SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The South Dakota Coyotes women's tennis team move to 2-0 in this 2026 season with a dominant 7–0 sweep of Sioux Falls on Saturday at the Huether Family Match Pointe.
The Yotes set the tone early by claiming all three doubles matches to secure the opening point. The No. 3 pairing of Ava Doddridge and Anna Medvyedyeva rolled to a 6–2 win, followed by Kayleigh Didderiens and Keta Shavishvili's gritty 7–5 victory at No. 2. Selena Bird and Cassy Marra capped the doubles sweep with a tight 7–6 win at the top spot.
The Coyotes carried that momentum into singles play, winning all six matches to complete the shutout. Bird was dominant at No. 2, winning two sets 6–1, 6–1 win, while Didderiens cruised at No. 3 with a 6–1, 6–0 victory. Natal Alves De Lima added another decisive point at No. 6, winning 6–1, 6–1.
Medvyedyeva earned the clinching point at No. 1 with a solid 6–3, 6–4 win, and Shavishvili followed with a 6–1, 6–2 decision at No. 5. Marra rounded out the scoring at No. 4, bouncing back after dropping the first set to win 2–6, 6–2, 6–1.
Coach Zinchenko had this to say about today's match, "First matches of the season are never easy and I'm happy with the way ladies were able to battle nerves and their opponents. We played aggressive and dictated each point, which is exactly what we strive to do every time we step out on the court. This game definitely revealed some things that we can improve on in practice and I'm looking forward to getting back on the court Monday and put in the work as we prepare for an away trip to face couple of very tough opponents on the road."
The Coyotes are hitting the road for their next match on January 31st against Bradley.
