ST. LOUIS, Mo. — For the second consecutive week, a Coyote has been tabbed a Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) Player of the Week. Redshirt freshman center
Lucas Feldkamp has been tabbed the Valley's Offensive Lineman of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
The Coyotes had 486 yards of offense and averaged 8.8 yards per play behind the stout play of the USD offensive line, headlined by the highest PFF graded performer Feldkamp this week against No. 25-ranked Southern Illinois.
In the first ranked win this season, South Dakota ran away from the Salukis by three touchdowns in the 31-10 victory thanks to outscoring Southern Illinois 17-3 in the second half. The 486 yards of offense is the second-most yards in a game this season with the season's second-best eight explosive plays of 20+ yards.
Additionally, the total yardage is the most the Saluki defense has surrendered to an FCS opponent this season and the 218 rushing yards is the second-most yards allowed on the ground this season to an FCS opponent.
It's the first career MVFC weekly honor for Feldkamp, who is in his second season at South Dakota in 2025 following his redshirt season last year.
The Sioux Falls native is the third Coyote to earn MVFC weekly honors this season. He joins
Austyn Modrzewski and Brook Honore Jr. to be honored the conference offense this season. The Yotes have now won Offensive, Special Teams, Newcomer, and Offensive Lineman Player of the Week honors throughout the 2026 campaign.
The Yotes hit the road for a road clash at Murray State this weekend (Oct. 17) with kickoff slated for 4 p.m. on Murray State's homecoming on Saturday afternoon on ESPN+.
