PHOENIX, Ariz. — South Dakota softball dropped a pair of games Friday at the GCU Softball Stadium, falling 4-2 to Northern Colorado and 9-1 in five innings to Sacramento State.

Northern Colorado struck early in game one, scoring once in the first and adding two more runs in the second to build a 3-0 lead. South Dakota got on the board in the third on a
Madison Evans solo home run before Northern Colorado added an insurance run in the fifth.
The Coyotes plated their second run in the sixth when
Sara Iburg tripled and scored on a throwing error, but the Bears held on for the 4-2 win. Both teams finished with five hits, while Northern Colorado took advantage of three South Dakota errors.

Sac State used early offense and steady pitching in game two to secure a 9-1 run-rule win in five innings. The Hornets scored in multiple innings to build separation including five in the first inning, while limiting the Coyotes offensively throughout the contest.
South Dakota's lone run came in the third when
Delaney White doubled to score Evans, but Sacramento State maintained control to close out the five-inning victory.
