HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS — South Dakota softball split a pair of games Saturday at the Bearkat Classic, falling 3-2 to Central Arkansas before bouncing back with a 2-1 win over host Sam Houston.

In the opener, South Dakota scored both runs in the second inning to take an early lead off a
Brooke Carey homerun and an
Autumn Iversen single that scored
Delaney White. The Coyotes finished with seven hits, highlighted by multi-hit performances from Carey, Iversen and
Piper Ruhl. Central Arkansas responded with two runs in the fourth and the go-ahead run in the fifth to secure the 3-2 win despite being held to four hits.
Campbell German took the loss after allowing two runs across four innings, while
Peyton Paulsen added two innings of relief

South Dakota responded in the nightcap with a 2-1 victory over Sam Houston. The Coyotes scored single runs in the third and fourth innings, finishing with eight hits while holding the Bearkats to one run on seven hits.
Brylee Hempey singled up the middle in the third to bring in
Kiya Johnson, and the following inning Iversen sent a foul ball to the left field fence to score Carey tagging up at third.
Madison Evans earned the complete-game win in the circle, striking out six while allowing only one run.
