USAFA, COLO.– The South Dakota women's tennis team dropped a 5-0 decision to Air Force on Friday afternoon in Colorado Springs.
The Coyotes fell behind early after Air Force secured the doubles point. The Falcons took wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to claim the early 1-0 advantage, while the No. 1 doubles match featuring Kayleigh Didderiens and Anna Medvyedyeva went unfinished.
In singles play, Air Force won the first four completed matches to clinch the team's victory.
At No. 1 singles, Selena Bird fell 6-3, 6-2 to Abby Cotuna. Arianna Van Houwelin defeated Kayleigh Didderiens 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, and Sofia Mavor earned a 6-2, 6-1 win over Anna Medvyedyeva at No. 3. Yule Kang added a 6-4, 6-2 victory against Cassy Marra in the No. 4 position.
The remaining matches at No. 5 and No. 6 singles were left unfinished after Air Force secured the team's result.
South Dakota returns tomorrow to take on conference opponent Denver. Live video and live stats will be available for the match.
