BOISE, Idaho — Boise State Athletics and the Pac-12 Conference have announced the South Dakota and Boise State football game on September 19. The game has been slated for a 9 p.m. (CT) [8 p.m. (MT) local time] kickoff on CBS Sports Network.
 
It's the first officially announced kickoff time for the 2026 football season for South Dakota and a night game since the Lamar game in 2025.
 
The Yotes head to Boise for the FBS game of the year after three FCS opponents to start the season. South Dakota and Boise State will meet for just the second time in program history and the first time in both programs Division I era. The only other meeting came in the 1973 Division II Playoffs with the Broncos taking the 53-10 win in Boise.
 
The Coyotes head into the 2026 campaign off a 10-5 (6-2 MVFC) 2025 season and a run to the FCS Playoffs quarterfinal round. Matt Vitzthum heads into his first season as the head coach, after leading the Coyote wide receivers (2024) and quarterbacks (2025), and co-offensive coordinator duties last season.
