VERMILLION, S.D. — The South Dakota athletic department has picked up the 2025-26 Interstate Series series, presented by First Interstate Bank, victory by the score of 11.5 to 8.5 over South Dakota State.
The victory this year is the sixth victory for the Coyotes since the Interstate Series began in the 2012-13 academic year. It's the first USD win since the 2021-22 academic year.
"We are extremely appreciative of the continued partnership with First Interstate Bank that allows us to continue showcasing the incredible rivalry between USD and SDSU," said Deputy AD/Chief Operating Officer,
Corey Jenkins. "This in-state rivalry remains one of the most passionate in the country and provides the opportunity to showcase both institutions, our incredible student-athletes, and the state of South Dakota."
South Dakota picked up points in football (2 pts.), men's basketball (2 pts.), men's and women's swimming & diving (2 pts.), men's and women's indoor track & field (2 pts.), women's basketball, men's golf, women's outdoor track & field, and women's soccer (0.5 pts.).
At one point this season, USD won nine-straight points that began with football's 24-17 victory over the Jackrabbits on November 8 through men's basketball's win over SDSU on February 28 in Vermillion.
The men's basketball team earned two points in the series for the first time in the Interstate Series history with their sweep of the Jacks.
After the basketball games on February 28, five points remained up for grabs with South Dakota needing just one more point to clinch the victory. The Coyote men's golf program would do the honors for the department with the Yotes taking a third-place league finish (SDSU, 5
th) behind a T2nd finish by Parker Etzel.
