VERMILLION, S.D. — The University of South Dakota sports medicine team welcomes Emily Wood to the athletic training team as the softball athletic trainer.
Wood comes to Vermillion after spending the last four years serving as an assistant athletic trainer at Indiana University-Indianapolis.
During her time with the Jaguars, Wood served as the primary healthcare provider for softball and men's swimming and diving teams. She also spent two years with the women's basketball and men's tennis teams.
Prior to moving to the Circle City, Wood spent one season as the athletic trainer for the softball program at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and Creighton University's men's soccer program.
She also spent time at Vanderbilt University overseeing the daily football conditioning sessions and designing individualized programs for post-surgical ACL reconstruction and medial meniscus repairs.
A board-certified athletic trainer, Wood earned her Bachelor of Science in Education & Human Services from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2017 and her Master of Arts in Athletic Training from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2022.
