SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota student-athletes account for 128 selections on the Summit League's Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence, with men's basketball, men's cross country, and volleyball each receiving the Team Academic Achievement Award, announced by the conference office Wednesday.
 
The Coyotes had the second most selections of any school in the conference for the 2025-26 academic year with 128. A total of 112 student-athletes make up the 128 selections when accounting for cross country and track and field. South Dakota totaled 47 "with distinction" honors, the second most in the conference.
 
The South Dakota men's basketball, men's cross country, and volleyball teams each earned the conference's Team Academic Achievement Award. The team academic achievement award is presented to the school in each sport with the highest percentage of eligible student-athletes on the Commissioner's List.
 
In order for a student-athlete to be selected to the Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence, the student-athlete must carry a 3.50 or better cumulative GPA, have used a year of eligibility and completed three full semesters or five quarters at the nominating institution. Student-athletes having a 3.9 or higher cumulative career grade-point average are designated "with distinction."
