VERMILLION, S.D. — For the first time since the 1973 Division II playoffs, South Dakota and Boise State will square off on the gridiron on Saturday when the 3-0 Coyotes make the trip west to Boise, Idaho for the first of two nationally televised contests of the season.
 
Kickoff is slated for 8 p.m. (MT) / 9 p.m. (CT) on CBS Sports Network with Chris Lewis (PxP), Randy Cross (analyst), and Brandon Baylor (sideline) on the call. You can listen to the game on Coyote Sports Network with the voice of the Coyotes John Thayer beginning the pre-game show at 7 p.m. (MT) / 8 p.m. (CT). Gary Culver (no sideline) will join him for the game action on the Blue Turf.

• South Dakota heads to the mountain time zone for the second time this season – and final regular season trip – to face Boise State on CBS Sports Network.
• This weekend marks one of two regular season games tabbed for national linear distribution with the Halloween (Oct. 31) meeting with South Dakota State to air on the ESPN family of networks.  
• The Yotes are 3-0 to start a season for the first time since the 2017 season under Bob Nielson.
• South Dakota enters the Boise State game with 99 wins as an FCS program, since its first season in the FCS back in 2008.
• It's the final non-conference game of the season for South Dakota and the start of a two-game road trip.
• The Coyotes check in at No. 10 in the Stats Perform media poll and at No. 12 in the AFCA Coaches' poll.
• USD is 1-2 all-time against opponents from the state of Idaho [0-1 vs. Boise; 1-1 vs. Idaho State].

• In his first season as head coach, Matt Vitzthum holds a 3-0 record.
• QB Austyn Modrzewski has thrown for multiple touchdown passes in his first three games as the starter at South Dakota.
• His 11 touchdown passing touchdowns sits T1st in the MVFC while also sitting T1st nationally in the FCS.
• WR Brayden White has a touchdown reception in each of his first three games as a starting wide out and his four on the season sits T1st in the Valley.
• WR Tennel Bryant had an explosive game against EWU with career highs in receiving yards (120), touchdowns (2), and longest reception (66) as he picks up his first career 100-yard receiving game.
• RB Charles Pierre Jr. eclipsed 2,000 career rushing yards last week against Eastern Washington, becoming the 15^th Coyote in program history to achieve 2,000 rushing yards.
• He's had two rushing scores the last two weeks, now sitting at 25 career rushing scores which sits T9th all-time at South Dakota and third-best in the FCS era.
• LB Wade Abrams leads the defense with his 24 tackles this season and the marks sits No. 4in the MVFC.
• DL John Starman leads the team with his 3.5 TFLs and 1.5 sacks.

• THE CAPTAINS: The Yotes have named three season-long captains for the 2026 season in Tysen Boze (offense), Gabriel Hardman (defense), and Keyondray Jones-Logan (special teams).
• Announced earlier during Fall Camp, senior defensive lineman Chris Dixon was named a top-10 (No. 9-ranked) prospect in the 2027 Canadian Football League (CFL) draft.
• The Coyotes are 33-29 in the month of September in the Division I FCS era and have twice finished September unbeaten (2017, 2023).

• South Dakota and Boise State meet for the second time on the gridiron with Boise State leading the all-time series, 1-0.
• The Coyotes and the Broncos met in the NCAA's first-ever NCAA Division II Playoffs back in 1973 out in Boise, Idaho. The Broncos prevailed 53-10.
• Current Coyote Sports Network radio analyst Gary Culver was on the 1973 team that played Boise and he played primarily special teams that season for the Yotes.
