PREVIEW: South Dakota Women's Golf Takes Part in Diane Thomason Invitational in Penultimate Event of Fall

VERMILLION, S.D. – The penultimate event of the 2026 fall season rolls on for the South Dakota women's golf program as they'll compete at the Diane Thomason Invitational at the Davenport Country Club in Pleasant Valley, Iowa. The event will feature the Yotes, Drake, Northern Iowa, Northern Illinois, Montana State, University of Nebraska Omaha, St. Thomas, Missouri State, North Dakota State, Bradley, Bowling Green, Western Michigan and the hosts Iowa.
 
The 54-hole meet will consist of 36 holes of continuous play on Monday and 18 more on Tuesday with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m (CT).
 
DIANE THOMASON INVITATIONAL
Monday marks the second-straight season the Coyotes visit the Hawkeye State for the Diane Thomason Invitational.
 
Last season, South Dakota finished this in the sixteen-team field, shooting a 906 in the three round event. 
 
All five of the Coyotes starters this week competed in the event last season, with then-junior Ella Greenberg finishing in fourth place (+3).

THE STARTERS
All nine Yotes will hit the links this week, with three competing as individuals. The top four scores will count to the team total for the meet.

THE COURSE
Opened in 1924, Davenport Country Club is an 18-hole private golf course just outside the Quad Cities. The course was originally designed by renowned golf architects Charles Hugh Alison and Harry Colt. The 6,287 yard, Par 71 course that holds a famous par-4 16th hole, which has twice been recognized by Sports Illustrated as an "All-American Golf Hole."
 
THE WEATHER
Gorgeous weather will once greet the Yotes. 
 
Just miles away from the mighty Mississippi River, it will be a chilly morning in the Quad Cities, with temperatures in the mid 50s at the start of the event. As the sun rises, so too will temperatures as it will be 74 degrees by the middle of the second round.
 
Tuesday will be much warmer in the morning for the final round of competition with morning temps in the mid 60s and sunny. No weather looming, so it will be peak fall in the Hawkeye State.
