VERMILLION, S.D. – South Dakota triathlon will compete in the first of five fall races this weekend as they make the trip out west for the Southern Hills Collegiate Cup in Hot Springs Saturday morning.

The race is scheduled for 7:15 a.m. Mountain Time (8:15 Central) at the Angostura Recreation Area south of Hot Springs, South Dakota. The race is a collegiate super sprint with a 375-meter swim, a 10k bike and a 2.5k run.

THE COYOTES
South Dakota is ranked sixth in the Division I CTCA Preseason Poll with one returning top 15 finisher from last year's national championships in
Alexa Magallon. The Coyotes placed fifth at last year's national championships and added three freshmen and a transfer to the mix for this season. Transfer
Adeline Koritz was a top Division III triathlete for Central College, earning two all-American honors at that level and winning the Freshman of the Year honor in 2024-25.

AT THE SOUTHERN HILLS
South Dakota has opened each of the last two season at the Southern Hills Collegiate Cup in Hot Springs, placing third in 2024 and fourth last season.

Alexa Magallon took 10
th at last year's race with a time of 31:25.
Ella Spitz placed 27
th in 33:24 and
Sydni Sawyer 46
th in 36:51. At the Southern Hills, USD placed behind the eventual top three teams at the National Championships in Arizona, Arizona State, and TCU.
