University of South Dakota Athletics

History

Started in 2011, this endowment was established by Robert E Van Why in order to recruit talented athletes of any sport to the University of South Dakota.

Fund Notes

Earnings are to be used to provide scholarships to student athletes who are enrolled in or accepted by USD and meet all requirements to be students in good standing. Candidates will be recruited for their athletic ability in one of the University's intercollegiate sports. First preference will be athletes in non-revenue sports (not football or basketball). If a qualified student from one of these sports is not available, then the selection committee at its discretion may select an athlete from football or basketball teams. Where possible, the scholarship will be equally divided between a male athlete and a female athlete.
