University of South Dakota Athletics

History

This endowment fund was established by Lyle and June Wagner in honor of the 1958 Men's National Championship Basketball team, and all of the outstanding athletes who have participated in basketball, football and track on behalf of the University of South Dakota.

June Woodward Wagner, from Brentford, S.D., graduated from USD in 1957. Lyle Wagner, from Elk Point, S.D., graduated from the USD Business School in 1954.

Fund Notes

Started in 1998, earnings generated are used to provide undergraduate scholarships for students who are enrolled in or accepted by USD in good standing. Candidates shall meet all of the eligibility requirements of the athletics department and the football program. A student who receives this scholarship one year is eligible for consideration in any other year.
