Blake Fryar joins South Dakota's coaching staff following a standout career at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. There, he passed for more than 3,500 yards and 40 touchdowns while competing in 45 games. He earned honorable mention all-GPAC honors as a junior in 2021 after throwing for 2,172 yards and 25 touchdowns against five interceptions. Fryar served as a team captain as a senior in 2022.
Before Northwestern, Fryar starred at Van Meter High School near his hometown of Waukee, Iowa. There, he led the Bulldogs to the 1A state championship and a 13-0 record his senior year. He completed 61 percent of his passes for 1,728 yards and 17 touchdowns while also rushing for 583 yards and six scores. Fryar was 24-1 as a starter under center. He was also an all-conference performer on the hardwood.
