Harvey, Brett 2013

Brett Harvey

One of the first recruiting classes of the Joe Glenn Dynasty at Northern Colorado included Longmont, Colo., native Brett Harvey. As a senior in 1994, Harvey earned the Vic Nottingham Award as the Most Valuable Offensive Lineman on the team and was also an all-conference honoree. Upon earning his degree in kinesiology, Glenn hired Harvey to be his offensive line and tight ends coach - a position he would thrive and succeed in for more than a decade.

Harvey and Glenn are reunited at University of South Dakota. Harvey is set to begin his fourth year as offensive line coach of the Coyotes in 2015.

Northern Colorado was 94-43 with Harvey on staff. His first five seasons were with Glenn when the Bears compiled a 56-12 record and won back-to-back Division II national championships. UNC won three consecutive North Central Conference championships from 1997-99 and tacked on another in 2002.

Harvey coached four All-Americans and 13 all-conference athletes at UNC. Tony Ramirez, a two-time first-team All-American lineman for the Bears, was taken in the sixth round of the NFL draft and started 10 games for the Detroit Lions during the 1998-99 seasons. Offensive lineman Ryan Burkholder was also a two-time first-team All-American under Harvey.

In 2006, Harvey returned to his home state and coached at the high school level for two seasons. He returned to the collegiate ranks as a graduate assistant at Angelo State in 2008 where he served as running backs coach. Daniel Thomas became the Rams' 10th 1,000-yard rusher that season and received an invitation to compete in the Cactus Bowl. Harvey spent the 2010 campaign as the offensive line coach at Fort Hays State.

"Brett is a real student of the game and student of the offensive line," said Glenn. "He is schooled in the offensive line and it is his passion. He will jump in and talk with anyone about offensive line play and continues to learn as much as he can about the position. He is everything you look for in an offensive line coach."
