Adam Breske has been instrumental in the development of South Dakota linebackers since 2007. He began his work as a graduate assistant, was hired full-time after receiving his master's degree in 2009 and spent the 2011 campaign as the Coyotes' co-defensive coordinator. A half a dozen all-conference players have benefitted from Breske's teaching including three who earned the distinction in multiple seasons.
Breske's coaching career began in 2002, the first of three years on the staff of Central High School in his hometown of Greeley, Colo. After earning his bachelor's degree in communication from Northern Colorado in 2004, Breske moved to Sioux Falls, S.D., where he was hired as linebackers and special team's coach at University of Sioux Falls. In his second season, the Cougars capped a 14-0 record with an NAIA national championship.
Breske helped lead the Coyotes from the North Central Conference to the Great West Conference and ultimately to the Missouri Valley Football Conference. He was there when the Coyotes knocked off the Big Ten's Minnesota Gophers in 2010 and when South Dakota downed defending national champion and then-No. 1 Eastern Washington in 2011 - his first game as defensive coordinator.
Adam Broders and Shea Williams were both linebackers under Breske from 2008-11. Broders was a three-time all-conference honoree who racked up 280 tackles (23 TFL). Williams was twice named to all-conference teams and had 249 tackles (14 TFL). Ryan Routh (2006-09) also appeared on multiple all-conference teams under Breske.
Breske and his wife, Danielle, have a son, Dylan, and a daughter, Layla.
